Visitor health insurance USA reviews

Every year there are many people visit the United States for various reasons such as for travelling, for visiting their family, for visiting their home while studying abroad and other reasons. Most of them plan the trip for just a short period of time. Most travelers are unaware of how expensive medical care is in the United states. US medical facilities also may not recognize insurance provided by a “foreign” insurance company and could deny services or demand up-front payment for treatment. That’s why it is a good idea to buy USA health insurance for visitors. If you or your family members plan to travel to the United States, you better take a health insurance for visitors to USA from a reputed company to protect you in the case of unforeseen emergency medical conditions and trip cancellation.

Following are some reviews on company that provide visitor health insurance in the United States. Theses insurance plans are broadly classified as Fixed or Limited Coverage plans and Comprehensive Coverage Plans.

The Limited coverage plans usually has lower price than Comprehensive coverage plan. However, the comprehensive coverage plans has higher benefits and better coverage. The comprehensive plan pays a percentage of eligible expenses up to the policy limit, and the remaining amount is your liability while for the limited plan the plan pays only a pre-defined fixed dollar amount for each medical service, and the remaining is your lability. Another benefit for the comprehensive plan is that it has a PPO network available so you can make negotiation and get discounted rates from the provider.

Actually, there is no travel related coverage for the limited or fixed plan. For most comprehensive plan, they also cover for baggage loss, trip interruption, emergency evacuation etc.

Visitor Health Insurance USA

There are many insurances companies in the market nowadays. They provide health insurance for US or non-US citizens. Before looking at each company, I would like to provide some ideas to look for a visitor health insurance. Many “travel medical” policies are simply “trip cancellation” policies which only cover the cost of your trip if for some reason you cannot go. Make sure that you review the terms of each policy to make sure it covers what you want insurance for (the benefits and exclusions). Further than the policies, the quality of the customer service is another thing you need to consider. Lastly, you need to know what is your requirement and your budget so you can choose wisely whether the limited plan or comprehensive plan is best for you.

Health insurance pre-existing conditions

In some cases, you really need to find a health insurance plan with pre-existing conditions because majority of the old people traveling to USA or abroad do have some form of pre-existing chronic health conditions like hypertension, heart diseases, diabetes, tumor, dialysis or arthritis.

The policy will not pay for loss or expense incurred as the result of injure or sickness of the cover person or family member which manifest itself during the 12 months immediately preceding and including the effective date, unless the condition is controlled through the taking of prescription drugs or medication and remains controlled throughout the 12 month periods.

A sickness has manifested itself when:

  • Medical care or treatment has been given
  • There exist symptoms which would cause a reasonably prudent person to seek diagnosis, care, or treatment.

Here are some tips for people having pre-existing conditions to better control on your health problems and a pleasant travel and stay in USA.

  • Purchase a good visitor medical insurance plan, preferably a comprehensive PPO kind of coverage like Liasion International.
  • Get a thorough and medical checkup done before you travel to USA. By doing this, you can have a peaceful mind with worry free and prepared.
  • You can carry enough amount of medicines from your home country.
  • Pay attention to your eating habits and do exercise regularly.
  • Measure your blood pressure and sugar on a regular basis if you have high blood pressure or diabetes.
